MRI

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program is one of the most rapidly developing diagnostic imaging modalities. The MRI program is a 1570-hour program comprised of two modules and an externship. The first two modules are taken on site and include the study of human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, sectional anatomy, physics, MR physics, MR instrumentation and case studies.

The last module is a 1000 hour externship completed at one of our clinical affiliated sites. Upon successful completion of the program student will receive a certificate of completion and a Diploma. This program complies with the minimum standards set forth by American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) and American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT). Upon completion of the program, students may qualify to sit for the registry examination. Please contact ARMRIT at Phone : (718) 347-8690, Fax : (718)347-8691, 8815 Commonwealth Blvd. Bellerose, NY 11426 for registry qualification.

Class Schedule

Modules 1, and 2 of the program contain 18 weeks of lecture each, 16 hours per week of instruction. Classes will be offered at the campus during morning from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and during evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.

Certifications:

Graduates of the full program are eligible to take the ARMRIT examination administered by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists. (For more information contact one of our Admissions Representatives or armrit@msn.com.) Members of the ARRT registry may be eligible to take the post-primary certification examination offered by the ARRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging following completion of the program. Please contact one of our Admission Representatives or www.ARRT.org for more information.

Graduates of this program are able to:

1) Demonstrate a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, cross-sectional anatomy and pathophysiology. 2) Demonstrate an understanding of MR physics. 3) Properly perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures. 4) Properly use and maintain the MRI instrument. 5) Evaluate MR images for diagnostic quality. 6) Properly screen patients and evaluate for safety issues. 7) Perform intravenous access under supervision of a Radiologist.

Advanced Placement

Two Advanced Placement examinations are available to students with prior college credit or documented on-the-job training in Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Cross-Sectional Anatomy. Advanced placement into classes is based upon test scores of the Advanced Placement Examination

Radiologic Technologists: Please contact one of our Admission Representatives for information about the Advanced Placement Examination in Anatomy and Physiology and an adjustment to the length of the externship.

CT technologists: Please contact one of our Admission Representatives for information about the Advanced Placement Examination in both Anatomy and Physiology and Cross Sectional Anatomy for those with experience in Computerized Tomography. An adjustment to the length of the clinical externship is also available to those who qualify.
